EU erkent: afrofobie is racisme

Zaterdag 13 april: Screening docu "Daddy & the Warlord" and  Q&A with Clarice Gargard & Shamira Raphaëla

Clarice Gargard is on a mission in (post) war torn Liberia, to unravel her father's involvement with former rebel leader, dictator and convicted war- criminal Charles Taylor. She has always seen her father as a hero, an idealist. But was he really trying to built up his country or did he have ulterior motives, like money, fame and power? As the story unfolds Clarice gets entangled in her own search for the truth, that turns out more complex and confronting than she imagined, that turns out to be more complex and confronting than she imagined, leaving her wondering if some things may better be left uncovered.

After the screening of the documentary we will have a Q&A with Clarice Gargard and the director Shamira Rafaëla.

Monday 22 April 2019: "Back to Black: Retelling Black Radicalism" Q&A with Kehinde Andrews

Back to Black traces the long and eminent history of Black radical politics. Born out of resistance to slavery and colonialism, its rich past encompasses figures such as Marcus Garvey, Angela Davis, the Black Panthers and the Black Lives Matter activists of today. At its core it argues that racism is inexorably embedded in the fabric of society, and that it can never be overcome unless by enacting change outside of this suffocating system. This is an appeal to reclaim Black radicalism, a movement that has been diluted and moderated over time, willfully misrepresented and caricatured by others, and divested of its potency and potential for global change.

On April 22nd 2019 we will have a book presentation and Q&A with Kehinde Andrews at The Black Archives.
